Statutory Sick Pay in 2025: Important Update for Employers

Employers should take note of recent updates regarding Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).

While it was initially announced that Statutory Sick Pay would gradually increase to 7 days in 2025 and 10 days in 2026, this phased approach has now been put on hold. The Government is currently reviewing ESRI research on the impact of statutory sick leave before making a decision on any further increases.

What does this mean for employers?

For now, the Statutory Sick Pay entitlement remains at 5 days. This change may impact your employee policies and expectations. It’s essential to review your employee handbook and contracts to ensure they align with current legislation and communicate these updates clearly to your workforce.

At Voltedge Management, we can support you in communicating these changes effectively to your employees, and reviewing and updating your handbook policies to reflect the most up-to-date legislation.

Now is a good time to ensure that your handbook policies are accurate and compliant. Contact us today at info@voltedge.ie or call our offices at 01 525 2914 to discuss how we can help.
