The opportunity

A bio pharma/life science company, established by a team of scientists within one of the leading universities in Ireland, had already become world renowned in their field when they attracted the attention of a large international organisation. We were introduced to this team in their earliest days, before they had set up their company. We established an excellent working relationship through which we designed and built the initial core team and they embarked on their funding journey. We also collaborated on a people and talent strategy, a foundational structure with which we worked as partners for their big step forward. We felt confident we could partner with them to navigate their big step forward.

The challenge

Now a well-funded business with a global reach, they needed an insightful plan to:

  • build out their HR infrastructure and implement a robust talent strategy
  • strategize on talent search
  • design global compensation and benefits structures
  • ensure compliance with contracts and handbook policies in various jurisdictions
  • help with immigration and mobile workforce processes.

Our solutions

One of our senior Voltedge consultants became their dedicated Head of HR, collaboratively designing a talent strategy and implementation plan. We developed strong HR structures for growth and provided a full range of support services through a dedicated talent acquisition consultant. She sourced and hired key talent globally, designed onboarding and benefits packages and managed implementation. Plans for performance management, training and development were designed and all employee relations maters supported. From the outset, as their virtual HR team, we integrated with management to support their initial 2-3 year growth plan; when they were ready to establish their own HR team, our consultants were appointed as permanent staff members.
