TWSS to become EWSS

From the 1st of September the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme (TWSS) will be replaced with the Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme (EWSS) until 31st Mar 2021.

Employers with a 30% reduction in turnover or customer orders between 1st Jul and 31st Dec will now receive a flat-rate subsidy per week depending on the number of employees on payroll who qualify.
The rate will be based on the gross income of each employee as follows:

  • Employers must review they meet the eligibility criteria on the last day of every month.
  • Employers will be required to pay employees in the normal manner by deducting income tax, USC and PRSI form employee’s pay.
  • EWSS will not appear on payslips or in myAccount, it is paid directly to the employer.
