In a recent survey by Right Management with more than 1,500 recruitment and resourcing professionals in UK and Ireland (2012), LinkedIn was found to still be the most used site for hiring managers to source job candidates and by candidates for networking. 80% surveyed found LinkedIn to be the most useful networking site, with Facebook at 16% and Google+ at 10%.
For hiring managers, LinkedIn was at 91%, with Facebook at 20%, and Twitter at 19%, LinkedIn having increased its use by hiring managers by a remarkable 20% since 2010.
Face-to-face interviews are still the significant methods of selection for new recruits at 92%, with ‘other’ methods such as assessment centres and testing online only accounting for 8%. Many employers and recruiters see themselves using telephone interviews more, with video or webcam interviews becoming more accessible and financially viable in the future.
