Fixed Term Workers – are they entitled to redundancy?

A recent article in the Irish Time, by the distinguished Employment Law Lawyer  Dr. Mary Redmond, elaborated on the problems with the current Fixed Term Workers legislation and the potential liability that an employer has with regard to paying redundancy payments when a fixed term contract expires.

She states that employees have successfully sought redundancy payments, including ex gratia payments, on termination of their fixed term contracts, citing the right to equal treatment with full-time comparators within their own place of work or in the same industry or sector.
